My friends,
It’s September, which means the Monday Morning Mixtape is back! I’m a touch late after being out on the road to start the month, but I’m so excited to start throwing away my autumn Sundays again in the name of the tape. It’s felt like a long time coming, but somehow, this is the fourth year of the MMM.
If you’re here, you know the deal: there’s music every week and I’ll write a bit about the mixtape the following week. What you’ll hear is bound to be as esoteric and eclectic as the sounds you hear on a day-to-day basis, and that’s sort of the point. Each mixtape is something of a sound collage that centers on the musical moments which highlighted my week.
I feel particularly excited about what’s to come in the next four months. I collected music at an unprecedented click this summer, to the point where I feel like I have dozens of unturned stones within my reach to sit and spend time with. There’s so much great stuff and I don’t even necessarily know what it is. Additionally, I’m terribly behind on 2021 records...what a blessing! There have been many well-received albums throughout the past eight and a half months and it leaves me in a place to flush my listening with the best of what the year has had to offer. Finally, I have a small, but special project that I’ll be wrapping into the mixtape this year, infusing it with a bit of historical reverence. More details will come next week!
Usually, there are sections of the newsletter that extend beyond the music, dipping into the writings’ of others, among other things. I’ll be starting up on all that next week. For now, enjoy this week’s mixtape and I’ll catch you next week!
So good to be back,
TG
